What makes a sign industrial
An industrial safety sign is not a different standard — it is the same CAUTION, WARNING and DANGER system as anywhere else. What changes is the environment. A sign in a plant gets oil, coolant, solvent, steam, pressure washing, forklift knocks and years of UV through a skylight. Printed vinyl in that environment is a consumable. Engraved phenolic is not.
Every sign on this site is cut from two-ply phenolic: a coloured surface bonded to a contrasting core, with the lettering cut through the surface. There is no ink and no laminate. Scuff it and it still reads.
The signs an industrial site usually needs
Most plants end up with the same short list: high voltage and electrical room signs at the panels and switchgear, arc flash labels on anything that gets worked live, machine safety signs at guards and nip points, PPE signs at the door of each area, and confined space signs on tanks and pits.
If you are signing a whole facility, send the list and we will quote it as one job. Consistent wording across every area is worth more than any individual sign.
Mounting on plant equipment
Adhesive works on clean, flat, indoor surfaces. For anything that sees heat, solvent or washdown, ask for drilled holes and screw or rivet the plate on. We drill to your hole spacing so the sign lands on existing fixings instead of needing new ones.

What are industrial safety signs made of?
Ours are two-ply engraving phenolic: a coloured surface layer bonded to a contrasting core. The lettering is cut through the surface, so there is no ink or film to peel, fade or dissolve. Phenolic is rigid, non-conductive and chemically resistant.
Will they survive oil, coolant and pressure washing?
Yes. Phenolic has good chemical resistance and the engraving is physical rather than printed. For heat or heavy solvent exposure, use screw or rivet mounting rather than adhesive, since the adhesive is the weak point, not the plate.
Can you sign a whole plant in one order?
Yes, and it is the cheaper way to do it. Send a list of each sign, its wording, size and where it goes. We quote the batch, engrave it together and ship it as one shipment with everything labelled.
Do industrial signs need specific colours?
Follow the signal word: yellow/black for CAUTION, red/white for DANGER, blue/white for mandatory PPE, green/white for first aid and emergency equipment. Where a code, an engineering study or your own safety program sets a colour, match it exactly.
